Marc Jacobs Cecillia

The Cecillia is from the upcoming Cruise Collection by Marc Jacobs. What a refreshing color! It is aptly named Papaya. Gazing at this bag has me fantasizing about warm weather, tropical beaches, far away places, fresh fruit daquaris....back to reality. The cold weather is just upon us and quite a ways until Spring. It is available for $1275 at http://www.neimanmarcus.com/ for preorder. The ship date is January. Delivery would be just in time to pack for a trip to some exotic locale!

Jimmy Choo Riki and Ramona

Cruise 2007 Perforated Metallic Suede Riki $2295

Cruise 2007 Ramona Graphic Snake and Suede $3495

Autumn/Winter 07 Slick Leather Riki $1525

Autumn/Winter 07 Coarse Metallic Suede Riki $1495

Long after it's introduction into the world of celebrities(and then us mere mortals) and then followed by it's faded status as an "It Bag" , the Jimmy Choo Ramona and it's little sister the Riki are still going strong. Jimmy Choo has a knack for resurrecting this style each season. Just when you think it has seen it's final incarnation, the Riki is introduced yet again in a new leather, color, sheen, or texture, and with new embellishments. I am always very curious what the new version will look like. Sometimes the new combination is hugely tempting and sometimes it is downright laughable. It's slouchy hobo style is enhanced with rings and belting to create a casual bag with a certain sex appeal. It is an easy bag to wear with a myriad of styles. This is why I think the Ramona and Riki prevail today. The Autumn/Winter collection at Jimmy Choo had some nice choices. My personal favorites were the Slick Red Riki and the Coarse Metallic Suede Riki . Cruise was just introduced, and I fear it might be a rough one for the Riki and Ramona. What I have seen so far looks a tad overdone. All available at http://www.jimmychoo.com/pws/Home.ice

Tanner Krolle Eva

If you are in need of a large tote to schlep your life around in but have been in search of something more streamlined than the pervasive oversized sloppy tote, a Tanner Krolle Eva may be the ticket! The Eva is an oversized bag with structure and an undeniable sportiness. Details, details, this bag has the details! To start, the smooth grained leather is the perfect shade of tan that looks fab even when worn with black. Take a look at the top stitched leather banding, the contrasting dark woven handles, and the polished silver hardware. The Eva has a hook and bar closure that graces the front of the bag, as well as a strap that runs along the sides and secures at the opening for added protection when such is needed. Kudos to such a well designed and beautifully constructed tote. Dimensions are 15.5x14.75x7.75. Made in Italy and available at http://www.eluxury.com/ for $1995

Jessica Alba and Her Red Tod's Restyled D Bag

Tod's restyled D Bag is a wonderfully classic tote. For some the classic nature of this tote may border on boring and unoriginal. If that notion is what has kept you at an arm's distance from this style, then take a gander at the Restyled D Bag in this strikingly lush patent red. Wow! What I love about the patent on this particular bag is the texture. It is beautifully pebbled. The hardware is silver and there is a removable, yes removable, charm logo. I love when designers give you the option of advertising for them or not! There are two leather pulls on the ends of the bag to add a little cinch if desired. All in all, a great not so basic basic. $1550 at http://www.saks.com/ . Also available in black.

Prada Resort Preview

Prada Resort has arrived and is available for pre-order at http://www.saks.com/ . There are some really lovely bags in Prada's latest collection of hanbags. My personal favorite is the Vitello Daino Zip Top Tote. This beautiful medium sized tote is shown in a sumptiously creamy ivory called Cera, adorned with the classic Prada emblem in gold and gold accents to match. The addition of a detachable strap is always a plus for me, perfect for hands free shopping! The security of your valuables are in check with the zip top feature, something not always included on totes. Offered at the price of $1650 it is an investment, but this classicly elegant tote will continue to look stylish for seasons and seasons to come!

I am not usually a "Gauffre Girl", nor am I swayed by nylon, but I may have to make an exception in the case of this latest gauffre tote featured in Prada's Resort Collection. The pleating is super appealing in this shade of blue called Baltico. The rich indigo draws me in while the gold hardware seals the deal. It has a wonderful nautical feel that is so much fun to wear. Once again, for pre-sale at http://www.saks.com/ for $1295

This adorably fresh wristlet gets a nod from me as well as the "always on the cutting edge of fashion" Sarah Jessica Parker. SJP is hands free, adorned with her Prada Tessuto Fiocco Bow Wristlet. You have the option of using this precious little number as a mini bag, a hand held clutch, or simply slide it onto your wrist so you too are able to clutch the latest issue of Vogue in such style! The black is available for pre-sale for $535. If you can't wait and desire a little color, Saks.com has it in Aquamarine ready to ship!

Miu Miu Satin Wristlet

Now this is an absolutely adorable little bag! If you are one that is not comfortable clad in vibrant colors then this bright classicly styled wristlet is a wonderful way to incorporate just a touch into your look. A mini satin purse with an adjustable strap and gold hardware, it is sized perfectly to hold a cell phone, lipstick and a few more of the essentials for a night on the town. I think this will look especially stylish with navy! I can imagine wearing this out to dinner or to an upcoming holiday soiree. Neither you nor your delightful satin bag will go unnoticed. Then again if you are a girl that prefers this bag in black, it too is available for pre-order at http://www.saks.com/ for a cool $295.

Such an air of elegance as you saunter down the isle to your seat. Now can you handle the agony of placing it in an overhead compartment? Can you sit patiently(and calmly) while the gent next to you vigorously tries to cram his well travelled roll-on next to yours? Salvatore Ferragamo Origami Leather Tote Bag

I love Salvatore Ferragamo bags and this one is no exception! This is on my must have list. I love the easy casual shape of the Origami bag. The color is "Sigaro", a beautiful warm honey toned shade of tan. It is trimmed in gold for a little pizzazz and has a removable gancini charm which I would promptly remove. It also has braided shoulder straps that are such a pretty and interesting detail. The measurements show it to be a rather large bag, 17 3/4W x10 1/2H x8 1/2D, but due to the slouchy nature of this style I think the size is perfect! Available for pre-order at Saks.com for $1590.

Dior Leather Frame Bag

The simplicity of this bag is what first caught my eye. Clean lines, classic shape, minimal hardware and the lack of logos or name plates. I like discreteness in fashion at times. Dior's new frame bag was designed as a two in one. The top of the bag is actually a matching coin purse! How ingenious. Unfortunately, the price reflects two purses(or more) at a staggering $3660. I like the idea of this bag, but I fear it may be a little matronly and rather expensive for my tastes. Available at Saks.com

Gucci Cruise 2008: A Preview

Queen

Sabrina

Pop Bamboo

Papillon

Horsebit Nail

D Gold

After a couple of ho-hum seasons for me in respect to Gucci ,I see promise on the horizon. The last time I was drawn to the designs of Gucci was during the 85th Anniversary Collection. Gucci stayed with classic shapes, and I loved the hardware! Of late, with Gucci's introduction of the Indy and then the Aviatrix, I have wondered where all the talent has gone to at Gucci. Yes, I know...two words. Tom Ford. Well, I am pleasantly surprised by Cruise 2008. I just adore the Papillon clutches followed by the Horsebit Nail collection. The Pop Bamboo bags are very Gucci with a fresh perspective and a quirkiness that appeals to me. The D Gold collection is a more basic approach with nice shapes and colors. Not too fond of the patent though. I am disappointed by the Sabrina bags. Great styles, but there are distracting ruffles added to all of the bags! Why? The Queen line I will never warm up to. The hardware and imbelishments are just too contrived for me. All in all though, I am impressed with Cruise 2008.
